Produce Day

Produce Day is now less than three weeks  away!

We’ve had some pretty awful weather, but things seem to be growing fast. One way or another there will be plenty to take to Produce Day, even if it is several entries to the Catastrophe Cup!

Produce Day is a chance for BOG members to show each other and the public what we’ve been growing this year. Unlike most traditional shows, it is not about competition (except, of course, The Catastrophe Cup 2008), but about sharing our experiences and celebrating the joys of organic gardening. We’ll be displaying collections of vegetables, fruit and flowers. They won’t necessarily be perfect specimens, but many will have information on which varieties were grown, growing conditions and other helpful information to pass on to fellow gardeners.

There will also be a chance to taste a few varieties of fruit and vegetables, to have a cup of tea and a scone, to get advice on gardening and to chat to other gardeners. We’ll also have displays on Heritage varieties and several aspects of gardening.

This year, we are linking up with a weekend of events organised by The Slow Food Group  of Berwick upon Tweed, and there will be lots of other food related events going on in Berwick.
